Kari Lake, who recently launched her bid for the Arizona Senate race to challenge incumbent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, received a high-profile endorsement from Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming, a member of Senate GOP leadership.
Barrasso expressed his support for Lake, highlighting her as a “generational communicator” who gives a voice to Arizona citizens. He also criticized the policies of President Joe Biden, stating that they have negatively affected Arizona, citing issues such as record inflation and a significant illegal immigration crisis.
In response to the endorsement, Lake expressed her honor and admiration for Senator Barrasso, a tested and proven conservative leader. She emphasized her commitment to working with him to address the challenges facing America and to achieve her goal of defeating Chuck Schumer.
This endorsement is significant in the context of Lake’s candidacy, as concerns had been raised within the Republican Party about the party’s chances of winning Sinema’s seat after Lake’s loss in the Arizona gubernatorial election last cycle, where her claims about the 2020 election became a focal point of the race.
Lake has been actively engaging with Republican leaders, meeting with Senators John Cornyn and Tom Cotton, as well as top advisors for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the super PAC aligned with him, Senate Leadership Fund. The executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), Jason Thielman, was also present at Lake’s campaign rally, indicating growing support within the party for her Senate bid.
